Pipes and filters
Smoking is not healthy, everybody knows this but the smoke of the pipes is not to inhale ,why you need a filter- pipes if you taste the smoke in your mouth only and you can inhale the indirect smoke only?
When pipes were commonly used instead of cigarettes, nobody thought to smoke filter-pipes .
Now that cigarettes conquered the top volume sales cigarettes with lower tar and nicotine are selling more and more but the great cigarette evolution is to research in the in the new "low tar" filters. ( there is also more and more request of blond Virginia tobacco quality in American blend taste all over the world)
The new trend to filter everything has influenced , I hope not to irritate the connoisseurs, the pipe too.
Every product has his own evolution or will disappear : like the vine, for example, if it is produced and aged like the Ancient Romans is not drink able anymore, a traditional tobacco blend of 30 years ago is not smoke able .
Filters help to smoke more dryer, to maintain your pipe more clean, and to increase taste expecially if you do not clean often your pipe.
Filters have specialized due different tobacco mixtures , generally balsa filters are to prefer with English mixtures that are able to absorb the sump, and coal filters are to prefer with aromatic or sweet mixtures that let you smoke dryer and cooler. Active coal filters reduce a lot tar and nicotine and slow the sweet taste at the tongue. Sweet and vanilla mixtures are trendy as they aromatize the air around with a pleasant smell .This a good thing if you consider that you can obtain a complicity among not smoking neighbors despite the growing antismoking campaign.
We recently noted a great increase of sales of 3mm. paper filters that are used instead of the traditional aluminum systems ( that are used to avoid to inhale some small parts tobacco during the smoke ) and that nobody uses anymore.
I n few low tar filters are cool now for pipes too or perhaps this is a natural evolution as filter-pipes are selling more and more in all Europe for many years.

We suggest to use 6mm. meerschaum filters that guarantee a better draw but we discourage to buy them even if those pipes are generally more attractive.
