We are proud to inform you that we have acquired he prestigious Franz Schuchardt collection .
We will show it in our Museum located in Via Piave 21 in Brebbia. You can see 195 unique items dated from the end of nineteenth century to the beginning of twentieth century . 42 pcs. of meerschaum pipes, 86 pcs. of fine pipes made in porcelain with and made decorations, 29 pcs. of briar sculptured pipes and 38 pcs. of various pipes.
Franz Schuchard
Franz Schuchard was born in Bad Lautenberg im Harz Germany .He was the chief engineer of the firm A.E.G.and he also was a great pipe-smoker and collector. He started collecting pipes in the first ‘900 century during his frequent business travelsall around the world. His fine research, care and keeping let him collect a really unique collection. He used to to keep every single pipe by himself, and also to smoke a different pipe everyday, and where it was necessary he also refurbished the pipes by himself. The selective and unique collection and the care of keeping are an example of love for pipes of a great pipe-fan. His nephew Mr Dieter Prange that was a pipe-smoker too, took care of the collection that is made by 195 rare pieces dated from the XIX century untill the XX century till now. There are 42 pcs. of meershaum pipes 86pcs. of fine hand painted pottery pipes 29 pcs. made by briar wood ( mostly hand-carved ) and 29 pcs. made by various materials ( like metal stone clay and others ).
The add off this collection well known by pipe-collectors all over the world has enriched and enchanted the The “ Brebbia Pipe Museum” and more it is a new source of knowledge .
Commerative pipe F . SCHUCHARDT 20 - 05 - 2006
We have realized a commemorative pipe in a limited edition of 200 pcs. to remind the official presentation of the collection to the pubblic in our museum and to honour a great collector of the past. On the ring it is engraved "F. Schuchard 20.05.2006". .
