The museum was born in 1979 by the will of Enea Buzzi, founder of Pipe Brebbia SRL and notorious pipe collector. It is located next to the factory in Via Piave, 21 - Brebbia (VA).

For pipe enthusiasts and the simple curious, the museum can be visited during office hours from 9.00 to 17.30 by appointment by writing to info@brebbiapipe.it.

In reality, Enea Buzzi began collecting the pipes in the post-war period to study the competitors, then followed a phase of obsessive collection. Pipes of different shapes, years of construction and origin were purchased, but, as time passed, Enea began to make research on the evolution of the pipe since its inception in different cultures.

After having taken around 6,000 pipes, the most difficult and laborious phase was their classification.

Afterwards he felt the need of publishing his studies and the results of his classification work.

But Enea Buzzi did not collect only old pipes, but also publications, books and magazines. Therefore Brebbia museum is unique as it collects not only thousands of pipes but also all publications related to pipes and an accurate study of the design.

Here what you can see in the museum.
The visit should start with American Indians pipes who are the precursors of pipe smoking and then move to a large collection of Austrian sea-foam pipes followed by Italian, French and Dutch chalk and earthenware pipes.

It follows a large collection of Austro-Hungarian porcelain pipes and first French and British realizations of root pipes (the overwhelming success of the Italian production came much later).

There is no shortage of weird pieces such as cigar pipes designed for motorcyclists (the nails with a snow hose) the "radiator" or pipes with an "aerated" stove to keep their pipes in warm climates easily; pipe with telescopic mouthpieces for a fresh smoke; tube with two burners and valves to be able to taste in real time different mixtures, water mini-pipes; patents of all kinds to make it easier to complicate.

Complete the collection of curiosities a formidable assortment of carved pipes, some real small sculptures including the tube with hat reproducing celebrities of the time.

Lately for the tenth anniversary of sports journalist Gianni Brera's death the Cultural Association of Bosisio Parini (his hometown) decided tp auction his pipe collection.

This collection has been acquired by Brebbia and it is now part of the museum.
